  • Polgoon farm's initial plantings were in 2004. The vines are spaced in rows 2.2 m apart on a hillside just outside Penzance (see signs for Rosehill off the A30 on the SW outskirts of the town. It is now the southern-most vineyard on the mainland of Britain, just handy for getting wine to celebrate a visit to Lands End.

The 2006 crop resulted in a rose wine that was judged the best rose in Britain at the UKVA competition. As a result it won the Waitrose Cup. The new tasting room includes a deli. and shop. Wine has been re-branded with some really different labels- see website for details. Winemaker's tours are held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 2pm.
One of the recent plantings is of Sauvignon Blanc- a rarioty in the UK- see list on the index page.
Cider and apple juice have beed addedto the vineyard's impressive range. There are now three generations of the family involved - a good sign for the next 50 years!
