Michael & Lin Gilbey Pheasants Ridge Vineyard Hambledon Vines Wines made by Stanlake Park | |
The Gilbeys inherited their 1.5 acre vineyard when they bought their present house. They run it as a village co-operative, with all profits given to the church funds. The grapes, after several years of neglect, are now thriving and produced both dry white and sparkling wines. Michael and Lin both come from a family of wine shippers, and with his brother and sister-in-law they import wines, organise a mail order wine club, and run Gilbeys restaurants at Old Amersham, Eton and Ealing. Michael Gilbey has been described as having one of the best palates in the wine trade, so no poor wine would ever be associated with this vineyard. The wine is available either via the vineyard (phone first please) or from the Gilbey restaurants. |
