Pears baked in White Wine
(Serves 4)
Ingredients:
- 6 pears, peeled, cut in half and de-cored.
- ¾ pint dry white wine (Seyval, Sauvignon Blanc).
- 3tbs syrup.
- vanilla pod.
Method:
- Place pears, cut side uppermost, in a casserole dish.
- Drizzle syrup over pears.
- Pour wine around pears.
- Add vanilla pod to wine.
- Bake at 180°C/350°F/Mark 4 until the pears are cooked (15-20 mins.).
- Place pears in serving dish.
- Concentrate the wine until it resembles a light syrup.
- Remove vanilla pod and pour resulting syrup over pears.
- Chill before serving.
