Wylye Valley Vineyard Mill Farm House Hill Deverill WARMINSTER Wiltshire |
|
Wylye Valley Vineyard is at Crockerton about 600 yards along the A350 road to Poole,
just south of the main A36 Bath-Salisbury road . The area , known as 'The Deverills' lies in the upper reaches of the beautiful Wylye Valley of South Wiltshire and is the ideal place to have a vineyard. The soil is Greensand, surrounded by chalk and the site sheltered from Westerly winds. Wiltshire is noted more for beer than for wine, and has only 2 other commercial vineyards. However Wylye Valley, planted in the early 90's , is already starting to gain a serious reputation. The attractive labels and wines, with names such as 'Teal & Green' and 'Watson's Fancy' follow a fly fishing theme |
