 LocationTo find the vineyard, take the main road out of Bridgwater towards the Quantocks. Go through Cannington, and after about a mile,you will come to a crossroads. Turn right up a lane. After about a mile, you will come to Oatley Vineyard . | 5 acres planted on clay soils in1986 at a remote farm near Cannington in the Quantocks, Oatley markets its superb dry
Kernling and 'Summer dry' (Madeleine Angevine) mainly by mail order rather than by
supermarket sales. The vines are largely trained on the Bordeaux Lyre system with its characteristic V shape. (See picture) The wines include the Summer drinking Madeleine Angevine and the more serious Kerner/Kernling. The
latter has carried off prizes both nationally and internationally. Visitors welcome by appointment - it is a good idea
to ring first as to traverse Someset rural roads and find no-one there can be annoying !
